AFII Social Media Use Guides

Purpose

The Agrifood Innovation Institute (AFII) uses LinkedIn to share insights, highlight research and connect with researchers, industry, government and the broader community. Our channels are intended to communicate the impact of agrifood innovation and contribute to informed, constructive discussion on complex challenges such as food security, climate resilience and sustainability. This policy outlines how AFII uses social media and how we engage with the community.

Use of our channels

AFII primarily uses LinkedIn to:

  • Share research, insights and project outcomes
  • Highlight collaborations and partnerships
  • Contribute to public and industry conversations
  • Promote events, publications and opportunities

Community engagement and moderation

We welcome respectful discussion and diverse perspectives. To maintain a constructive environment, we moderate content in line with the following guidelines.

We may remove or hide comments that:

  • contain offensive, abusive or discriminatory language
  • include misinformation or misleading claims presented as fact
  • breach privacy or confidentiality
  • promote commercial activity unrelated to AFII
  • are repetitive, spam or irrelevant to the discussion.

We aim to respond to genuine questions and constructive feedback where appropriate. We will provide responses where:

  • There is misinformation in a comment and we want to ensure accurate facts and information are provided.
  • We can provide additional information to extend the understanding of a topic.
  • We would like more information from you or wish to connect to understand your perspective.

However, we may not engage in:

  • Extended debates or arguments.
  • Political or ideological disputes.
  • Discussions outside AFII’s areas of expertise.

Accuracy and responsibility

AFII takes reasonable steps to ensure that all content is accurate at the time of publication. We work closely with researchers to ensure the accuracy of content, but are often not the experts. The content we develop for social media is for mass consumption so technical details may be omitted. Information may also change as research evolves. Where errors are identified, please contact us and we will correct or clarify content as appropriate.

Content shared from external sources does not necessarily reflect the views of AFII.

Use of images and third-party content

We use images, video and external content to support communication. Where required, permissions are obtained, and sources are acknowledged. Stock imagery may be used for illustrative purposes and may not be technically accurate or represent specific AFII projects or activities.

Use of artificial intelligence (AI)

AFII may use generative AI tools to support the development of social media content. This includes refining language for clarity and accessibility, structuring content for readability, and assisting in the identification of appropriate imagery. AI is used as a drafting and support tool only, and all content is reviewed by AFII staff to ensure accuracy, relevance and alignment with our standards. No confidential, sensitive or unpublished research information is entered into AI systems.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in platforms, technology or organisational practice.
