About

Professor Martine Mariotti is Director of the ANU Research School of Economics and is a specialist in Economic History. Her research interests are in economic history, demography and development economics with a focus on incomes, jobs, living standards and demographic outcomes and the factors that lead to changes in material outcomes. 

AFII focuses on transforming agrifood systems through sustainability, resilience, and equitable supply chains. Martine’s expertise in long‑run economic change, labour markets, and demographic dynamics directly complements AFII’s mission to advance profitability, sustainability and equity in agriculture.
