About

Martin Amidy drives the research facilitation projects at AFII. He works with industry and government partners to access the full interdisciplinary expertise of the Australian National University, bringing together collaborative teams to co-design and deliver solutions to address complex agrifood challenges.

Before joining AFII, Martin spent more than 15 years in the agricultural sector, primarily in broadacre cropping and grazing. His experience spans producer engagement, research and field trial management, industry policy, and strategic planning. Working closely for Farming Systems Groups and industry bodies gave him valuable insight into the challenges farmers face and how research can drive real impact.

As a systems modeller, Martin’s research interests are diverse, from agriculture’s energy transition to opportunities for improving productivity, enterprise diversification, and emissions mitigation.

Martin has a joint appointment at the ANU Fenner School of Environment & Society as a Lecturer in the Agricultural Innovation program.
