About

Thomas Davis joined AFII in January 2024 as an Innovation Education Project Officer, bringing a diverse background spanning biotechnology, business, and agricultural production. His role focuses on driving cultural and technological change within the university to help transform how agrifood research is delivered to industry and government.

Before joining AFII, Thomas worked with multidisciplinary teams supporting large corporate clients and developed innovative approaches to change management and collaboration. He saw AFII as a unique opportunity to apply that experience to the university sector and to help create systems and processes that accelerate research translation and commercialisation in agriculture.

Thomas holds a Bachelor of Biotechnology from the Australian National University, a Graduate Certificate in Business and Technology from the University of New South Wales, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and Diplomas in Organic Farming and Brewing. His work at AFII aligns with the Institute’s strategic goal of driving innovation by leveraging technical expertise to create new ways of working and sharing knowledge across disciplines.

He believes the work AFII does is essential in strengthening Australia’s agrifood sector, which produces the vast majority of our country’s fresh produce, meat, and dairy, and plays a vital role in global food supply.

Outside of his professional work, Thomas has a creative side, he studied furniture design at the ANU School of Art and Design, reflecting his appreciation for craftsmanship and hands-on problem solving.
