Event sponsorship opportunity - 2026 Crawford Fund for Food Security Conference
The 2026 Crawford Fund for Food Security Conference will feature discussions around food security, climate and the impact of Australia’s investment in international agricultural research in supporting developing nations.
It comes at a critical time in Australia and our broader regions’ food security journey, as Australia develops its first ever food security strategy. Food security improves health and nutrition, breaks cycles of poverty, fosters education and reduces displacement, making our region more stable and secure.
There’s also a boomerang effect, with Australia’s investment resulting in benefits such as new crop varieties, stronger biosecurity, increased trade and better trained scientists.
This year’s conference’s theme, Emerging Voices Shaping Regional Integration for a Food Secure World, will focus on how regional integration in agricultural research and innovation can strengthen food and nutrition security in a rapidly evolving geopolitical and climate environment.
The Agrifood Innovation Institute (AFII) is proud to offer day-registration (11 August) sponsorships to the 2026 Crawford Fund Conference as an essential gathering bringing global focus to food and nutrition security. This high-level event bridges the gap between research and policy, featuring a program of distinguished scientists, including Dr. Sandra Milach and Professor Jaquie Mitchell, alongside key policymakers, including Victoria Anderson and Dr. Sally Box.
To support our emerging talent, AFII is offering several sponsorships (valued at up to $670 each) for Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and postgraduate students to attend.
Dr. Saule Burkitbayeva, AFII’s Thematic Leader for Emissions and Climate Adaptation, endorses this initiative:
I highly encourage our ECRs and postgraduate students to apply for these sponsorships. This is a great opportunity for networking, aligning research interests, and observing the real-world application of strategies addressing climate resilience and food security.

Sponsorship EOI is open to ANU staff and postgraduate students, closing Sunday 12 July 2026.
