What to Expect
Internships facilitated by the Agrifood Innovation Institute run under your degree internship or placement programs. This means they are designed with your studies, giving you meaningful industry experience and credit toward your degree.
You'll work on real projects with a host organisation and be supported by a dedicated ANU supervisor. Together, your internship team will help you get started, guide your work, and support your learning throughout the placement. You'll have access to the tools, resources, and facilities you need to contribute and build practical skills. Further, regular check-ins will mean your internship can be adjusted at any time to ensure its targeting the skills development and network building you require.

Flexible and Career-Focused
Hours will depend on your degree program but generally you will complete your internship over approximately three months at about a day a week. This equates to your typical course requirements of 90 hours. Alternatively, internships can be designed to occur intensive period of 2-3 weeks as according to what suits you and the host organisation. Specific hours and timings will vary according to your degree program, just reach out or find your degree below for specific information.

Internships and Projects
Working as part of a team of six students, Luella helped develop a model examining a new ownership model of solar and battery assets on farms. The project used a commercial piggery in Kerang, Victoria, to test both the economic and environmental feasibility.
With Sheep Producers Australia, Julian undertook a project that explored how industry organisations represent producers and influence government decision-making. The project allowed him to lean into his interest in policy and science communication while working on a real challenge facing the sector.
