AFII Strategic Investment Program

Are you conducting research that could have a real-world impact on the agrifood sector? AFII invites you to apply for funding through the AFII Strategic Investment Program.

The program supports projects that build industry-aligned research, capability development, knowledge transfer, increased use of technology, and promotion of best practices.

Categories of Support

The AFII Strategic Investment Program supports research translation through these three categories:

Scoping – up to $5,000 (maximum duration three months)

Preliminary investigations into industry need for an idea or solution.

Engagement – up to $20,000 (maximum duration six months)

Workshop, co-design and/or prototyping activities with industry partners to refine ideas and solutions to agrifood sector needs.

Collaboration – up to $50,000 (duration negotiable)

AFII co-funding in support of interdisciplinary teams seeking external funding for projects that develop solutions that address an industry-identified challenge in the agrifood sector.

Eligibility

The program is open to all ANU researchers and research students.

How to apply

  • Review the Strategic Investment Program Guidelines to ensure your project meets the program's requirements
  • Complete an Expression of Interest form and send it to us.
  • A member of the AFII Research Translation team will meet with you to discuss the project concept, appropriate category of support, and suitability of the project for development of an application.
  • Suitably developed ideas from the EOI process will be invited to complete an application for the appropriate category of support.
  • Successful applicants will be notified of the outcome of funding, or allocation of resources following the assessment process.
